May, Rebecca (Childminder)

Description

I have worked with children for the last 6 years. My mother has been a foster career and childminder since i was the age of two, so I have been brought up around children my whole life. I completed my Level 3 Childcare at Bury St Edmunds college and I'm currently in my last two years of open university doing a foundation degree. I've worked with a local childminder (Rona Reeder) as an assistant and in a local nursery (the swan nursery) which I really enjoyed but left to become a childminder in September 2016. I absolutely love working with children and love developing my practice. I have joined a forest childcare associating where I have to follow 5 principles, one being I have to take children to an outdoor environment at least once a week. This is normally to Quaker wood and the children wear warm overalls and high vis jackets which I supply. I like to get out and about as much as I can with the children which also includes trips to Banham Zoo, Blooms, swimming pools, parks, trip into town. As well as going out we do stay in, I offer a home from home environment where it is mainly child led. We have a beautiful mud kitchen outside which is plugged into the hose so it has running water. We also have a lovely play room that  has lots of different toys for the children to enjoy and choose from. When you leave your children with us you can trust that they will be looked after like they are one of our own.
