Privacy and cookies

You can use the Norfolk Community Directory to browse or search for services, groups and activities, anonymously. If you choose to creat an account (eg to save favourites etc), the personal information you are asked to supply on your registration form ("Your Personal  Data"), will be used as follows: (i) to administer your registration and Account; (ii) in making decisions about whether Content you submit should be accepted, rejected or used.   Your Personal Data will be kept private and confidential, and will not be passed on to third parties without your express consent and will be used in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

If you choose to provide information for our directory, you are responsible for keeping that information up to date.  You should be aware that this is a public directory and users can share this information via email or on social networking sites, like Facebook.  We may share directory record(s) with other councils (eg Suffolk County Council) to use on their own service directories.  In turn, we include information from other councils on the Norfolk Community Directory to enhance the breadth of information we provide.  By publishing a record on the Norfolk Community Directory, providers are consenting to their information being shared in this way.

In addition, as a third party (e.g. service provider) or local authority user of the MarketPlace, when you log into your account, the MarketPlace will use cookies to remember various configurations you make throughout the administrative area. These are not recorded by the server.

Google Analytics  _ga, _utma, _utmb, _utmc, _utmz Together these cookies record how many people are using the website and how they move around the site once they've arrived. This helps us monitor how the website is used so that we can see where to make improvements and ensure a good service is provided
  • utma stores each user’s number of visits, time of the first visit, the previous visit and the current visit
  • _utmb and _utmc checks how long a visitor stays on the site: when a visit starts and ends
  • _utmz tracks where a visitor came from (search engine, search keyword, link)
  • _utma expires two years after your last visit to this site
  • _utmb expires 30 minutes after your visit, or after 30 minutes of inactivity
  • _utmc expires at the end of a session (when you close your browser)
  • _utmz expires six months after it was last set

Without these cookies, the user will see no difference in the functionality available to them, but maintenance and support of the site is made more challenging for the Local Authority. See Google’s analytics privacy policy for further information
